Meet The Team

The Vets:
 
Ed fixing prolapsed sheep Ed is the director of the practice and has many years of experience working in mixed practice in North Yorkshire. He originally trained at Glasgow vet school and has a keen interest in all things to do with sheep.

Hamish Hamish trained at Liverpool University and takes a keen interest in all aspects of mixed practice. He completed an elective in farm animal medicine. During his spare time he enjoys rugby and all kinds of sport and exercise. He grew up surrounded by dogs, cats, alpacas, cows, pigs and poultry on his parents' smallholding which fueled his interest in becoming a vet.

Kelly joined the practice in September 2011.  She graduated from Edinburgh, and is  interested in all aspects of mixed practice, but in particular, large animal work.  Kelly is originally from Fife where she grew up showing welsh ponies, and riding out thoroughbreds.

The Nurses:
 
Rachel Rachel joined the practice in September 2009.  She is currently working at the practice and studying at Askham Bryan College to become a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse. She is from a farming background and in her spare time enjoys participating in sheep work, looking after her dogs/cats and riding her horse.

Becky

Natalie joined the practice in July 2010.  She grew up on a dairy farm and now has 3 dogs, 1 pig, a turtle and chickens at home.  Natalie managed a boarding kennels for 3 years and is now spreading her time here between nursing, reception, dog grooming and assisting Ed with artificial insemination in sheep.

Reception:
 
Amy Rec Photo1 Amy joined the practice in December 2011 as our receptionist.  Amy is from a farming background and has competed and hunted her horses from a young age.  Amy spends a lot of her spare time in the winter on the shooting field.

Administration:
 
Catherine Catherine has been with us since the practice opened in September 2002, and is the practice administrator. She is from a farming background and used to compete up to intermediate standard in British Eventing.  In her spare time she enjoys shooting and beating in the winter and walking her two Labradors and Cardigan Corgi.

Chief groomer:
 
Janet Hamilton: Janet originally joined us in June 2007 as assistant groomer and now runs 'Grooming Lovely'. Janet has been around dogs and horses all her life. She now has two dogs and two horses of her own and still helps out at her family farm.
